See http://www.wheatgrassandcancerbush.blogspot.com/ for more.
There are no "Potions" just yet but I have been working on a couple of ideas for some lotions and ointments.
When making Wheatgrass or Cancerbush, and now Comfrey, powder, there is, I feel, too much plant material wasted so I have been trying to make use of them.
I am taking a Cancerbush and Wheatgrass "extract" which I am adding to my base.
My German Shepherd has a skin condition so I am using the both of us to test out my mixes.
Comfrey on the Left and Cancerbush on the Right. |
I have made a couple of nice lotions.
The Cancerbush, for massaging into tired muscles (I have used it on an ankle I twisted as well as some sore muscles with good results.)
I have also used it on my Shepherd with some good results as well.
He used to scratch a lot and really smelt very "Doggy" at times and now he is much better. Even his demeanour has improved.
With the lotion for us humans I have used a liquid in the mix and for him I use the Cancerbush powder. At first I was mixing it in his milk, which he actually enjoyed, but then realised that I did not have to because he would lick at the lotion and get it that way. He needs so little that he swallows enough that way.
The Comfrey lotion is for skin lesions, and tender skin areas. I get a fever blister on my lip every winter and have been using it on this with some success.
In the beginning I tried using Camphor cream as my base but it is a little "severe" on tender skin, so I have switched to Aqueous Cream. Now, this works very well. It is organic but is a petroleum base. It does do the job rather well. It is early days for me so still have a lot to learn.
Please dont think I "hurt" myself on purpose so I can test out a "Lotion." However, if I do have a pain, you do know what I do.........................
I have found that a little goes a long way..................................
The "Elixirs" available and prices start at R30.00.

Update
At Underberg while working on the labyrinth, I took my jersey off and left it on the ground near to where I was working. When I got home it was a lot cooler so I put my jersey back on.
All of a sudden I had a rash, and it was spreading up my one arm. I got some "Comfrey" lotion and rubbed it in. But every time I moved the rash spread. I eventually took my jersey off again and turned it inside out. To my surprise there was a hairy caterpillar up my sleeve, which was giving me the rash.
The good news is that the rash was gone within minutes with the Comfrey lotion.
So you SEEE. IT REALLY DOES WORK.
Update 14/5/11
I have two new lotions on trial now.
Wheatgrass on the left and ???????on the right |
What I have noticed is how so far, every new additive imparts its own shade of green. This is great because possibly in time I will be able to tell what the mix is just by looking at the colour.

I gave a sample lotion with Cancerbush in it, to a friend whos Dad has problems with swelling on his knees.
Yesterday she told me her Dad had swelling over the weekend, put the "Lotion" on it and it went away.
It might be too early to tell and a lot more experimenting but it does seem as if the Cancerbush has more going for it than meets the eye.
Isnt that great...........................................
(PS I have also been told that the ?????? plant is called "Bulbinella." I have no information on it at this time
but stay tuned.)
Ok, I have been trying the "Bulbinella" and my skin is not too fond of it. I can see why it is good for cuts and exposed skin because it tends to dry my skin out. I am trying it on a wart on my knee with some success. It also has a very pungent (not too unpleasant) smell which the Cocoa Butter does disguise rather well.
I have no news on the Wheatgrass as yet.

I bought some Emulsifying Ointment the other day, because it is supposed to be more natural, so decided to try it today. Nope, I will be staying with Aqueous cream for the time being because the Emulsifying Ointment is very hard to work with.
Emulsifying Ointment. Not a very nice lotion mix yet. |
1 It is very hard so I tried softening it in the oven, then mixing my "elixir" into it in the hope it would stay soft. No luck. As soon as it cooled it went hard again. So, until I find out another way to use it, it will be shelved.
2 It is 4 (four) times more expensive than Aqueous Cream
3 From my experiment with it, it really did not feel nice on my skin. It felt very greasy and hard for my skin to absorb.
So, lets try again.
The good news is that nearly all the news I get from people using the lotions with the Aqueous Cream are good. I will not say too much yet other than it is some AMAZINGl plant.
8/6/11
I have managed to make a lotion from the Emulsifying Ointment which I am about to try. From preliminary tests, ie wiping on my hands from the mixing spoon etc, it feels OK. But, I had a look at its constituents and it seems as if we are back to square one because it has a paraffin base which is also not natural.
It looks rather nice and does feel quite nice on my skin, but it has a real "organic" smell to it.
It also costs 4 times more than Aqueous cream but for those who prefer it I will try to keep it as cost effective as possible.
It does seem to stay on your skin for longer so now I will give it to my friends to try out.
Because of the way I have thinned out the Emulsifying Ointment it no longer feels as "greasy" as it did the first time I tried.
This lotion, even though it is supposed to be healthier really smells VERY organic. The smell is not very nice. However, the results are the same as with the aqueous base.

I have found out now that the Cancerbush extract is the best of all the mixes. It helps for everything, ranging from skin rashes (a friend has a daughter with eczema and she is using the lotion on her without any adverse reactions) to swellings and wounds. I am also using it on a cows udder. She has bad warts which are slowly healing. I am also experimenting with it on my "fading" hairline but it is too early to tell whether I am getting any positive results. Oh PLEASE let it work.........................
What a pity there is such a little extract coming from the plant.
23/7/11
I was told yesterday that a lotion I gave to a friend to try on her daughters eczema is working. I am so pleased about this as I suffered from it badly as a child and was actually sent home from school it was so bad. This is wonderful and goes to show how gentle the lotions really are. (she is using the Cancer Bush extract lotion)
Here is another experiment I am doing with the lotions.
This cow has very bad warts on one side of her udder which I have been doctoring for just over a month. I think it is time to put a pic or two here as a record of her progress.
It is taking a while but you can already see a difference in her udder. A couple of the larger warts have already dropped off and if you look carefully you can see the scar tissue of the latest one to fall as well as the scars from previous ones which have healed nicely.
It has come to the point now when I can actually GUARANTEE that the Cancerbush lotion will help you in some way......................................
At the moment it is being used for:
1 Sore muscles and joints.
2 Eczema.
3 Swelling on the knee.
4 As an udder cream.
5 As a wart remover.
6 For dry and cracked skin. (including lips).
7 Rashes
8 Insect bites
9 Dry skin
10 Cystitis
11 Gout
It is also being experimented with on skin blemishes and I am experimenting with it on my thinning hairline...................................
Every time somebody tries it on something it seems to have a positive effect.
Do not forget. Containers only cost R30 each (excl postage and packaging) and last a long time because you use very little of it.

I gave a sample lotion to a friend to try. (I get some of my fruit trees for the Labyrinth in Underberg from him) and a week later when I went to see him again, he called me over and said, "Look here, I used to have a "thing" there but your lotion has taken it away."
I am still not sure what the "thing" was but obviously he was very happy.
I also gave a sample for a lady to try who gets "stress" marks (I am not sure of the technical term) on her face. I saw her two weeks later and could hardly recognise her. Her skin looked amazing.......
UPDATE 24/4/2012
There is another use for the lotion. GOUT.
On Friday an electrician was working on our pumphouse electrics and mentioned to me that he had bad gout. I told him I would give him something to fix it.
Before he left I gave him a little lotion.
On Monday he came back to check on the job and told me his story.
He was driving up to Joburg with his wife and decided to try the lotion. He said the lotion targetted the painful area, it got hot and then the pain went away. Needless to say, he was rather happy.
So, add GOUT to the lengthening list.
I am also experimenting making oils with the same plant. So far so good. I am using it as a bath oil. I tore all the ligaments in my leg a week ago so I have been rubbing it into that area and using it in the bath. I still have not seen a doctor and even though I am still a little uncomfortable, it is really working wonders. Since using the bath oil my skin feels softer I have no aches other than the obvious, so yes, I will be using it as often as possible.
I still put the lotion on my face and hands every night and the oil in the morning.
I am also putting it on my balding bonce. It does not seem to be helping BUT my hair has never been as long as it is now so it must be doing something.
One day people will actually BELIEVE me when I extol the virtues of this amazing plant.
The price per container is now up to R30.00

It has been a while since my last update and a couple of things have come up to re affirm my belief that this is some Miracle plant.
I have had 2 lady friends who suffer from Cystitis. I got them both to take the Cancerbush powder and BOTH of them were cured. The one lady went overseas to work and actually took some with her.
An elderly gentleman looked me up because he had heard about me from someone and his story is one I will cherish.
He told me he had such bad eczema on his legs that they start to bleed.
I gave him a little lotion as well as some powder and wished him the best of luck.
It was not more than a day later when I received an excited phone call. It was the same guy begging me for more as his eczema had almost gone. The scratching had subsided and he was one of the happiest people I have met. Shame he must really have been suffering.
Now I have given him his own seedling to plant at home.
My latest episode is my own story.
Two days ago I tore the muscles in my neck so of course the first thing I went for was the lotion. At first I only put it on in the morning and evening and of course felt a change almost instantly. Last night I put it on 3 times and as I write this I am almost fully mobile again.
This compared to almost not being able to lift my head a day ago. Yes, this is some WONDERFUL gift from Nature.
